1. Additional Secretary

No of posts: 1 (UR)

Educational Qualification & Experience:

Preference will be given to candidates holding a Bachelor of Law degree from a recognized University. This qualification indicates a solid foundation in legal principles, which is highly relevant for the responsibilities associated with the Joint Secretary position.

A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Joint Secretary or in an equivalent position in any Government Department of Assam is essential. This experience demonstrates a deep understanding of administrative processes and governmental workings, which are vital for the role of Joint Secretary.

Candidates must possess a robust understanding of Constitutional Law and Parliamentary Practice & Procedure. This knowledge base is crucial for effectively navigating legal frameworks and legislative processes within the government.

Age Requirement: Applicants should be between 50 and 55 years of age at the time of application. This age range ensures that candidates bring a wealth of experience while also maintaining vitality and energy to fulfill the demands of the role effectively.

2. Protocol Officer

Educational Qualification & Experience:

  • Educational Qualification: A Master’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks is mandatory. This educational background demonstrates a solid academic foundation, essential for the role.
  • Work Experience: Candidates must have at least 4 years of working experience in any Government, Semi-Government Office, or Organization. This experience showcases your practical understanding of administrative processes and governmental operations.
  • Preference for Tourism & Hospitality Management: Candidates with a degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management will be given preference. This specialization aligns with specific requirements of the position and enhances your suitability for the role.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English, Assamese, and Hindi languages is essential. Good command over these languages ensures effective communication and collaboration within diverse settings.

3. Language Reporter (Grade-II)

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognized University. This educational background provides a foundation for the skills and knowledge required for the role.
  • Speed Test in Assamese: To be eligible for the Speed Test at 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) in Assamese, candidates must hold a Certificate of Stenography in Assamese with a minimum speed of 80 w.p.m. from an institute recognized by the Government of Assam. This certification ensures proficiency in Assamese stenography, a crucial skill for certain positions.
  • Computer Application and DTP Skills: Candidates must have adequate knowledge of computer applications, particularly Desktop Publishing (DTP) in Assamese. This proficiency demonstrates the ability to utilize technology effectively for administrative tasks and communication in Assamese.

5. Stenographer Grade-III (English)

No of posts: 2 (UR-1, STP-1)

Educational Qualification & Experience:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognized University. This educational background provides a solid foundation for various roles within the government.
  • Speed Test in English: To be eligible for the Speed Test at 80 words per minute (w.p.m.) in English, candidates must possess a Certificate in Stenography from an ITI in Assam or any other institute recognized by the Government of Assam or Government of India. This certification ensures proficiency in English stenography, a critical skill for certain positions.
  • Computer Application and English Language Skills: Candidates must have adequate knowledge of computer applications and possess a good command over the English language. Proficiency in these areas is essential for effective communication and administrative tasks within the government.
  • Age Requirement: Applicants should be between 21 and 38 years of age at the time of application. However, the upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for ST (P) candidates, allowing them to apply up to the age of 43 years. Age proof certificate (Admit Card/Pass Certificate of H.S.L.C or equivalent examination) and a scanned copy of a recent color photograph.

Certificate/Marksheet of the qualification required for the concerned post.

Caste Certificate, if applicable, issued by a competent authority.

NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Head of the Department for candidates applying through the proper channel to appear in the Walk-In Interview/Speed Test/Written Examination.

Selection Procedure:

The recruitment process for the posts will follow this procedure:

Initial Screening: The Selection Board and the Selection Committee of the ALA Secretariat will review the applications to ensure eligibility criteria are met. This assessment will primarily consider the academic qualifications and relevant experience stated in the application.

Shortlisting: Based on academic qualifications and experience, the Selection Board will shortlist candidates for the following posts:

  • For positions at SI. 1 & 2: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Walk-In-Interview conducted by the Selection Board of the ALA Secretariat.
  • For position at Sl. 4: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Written Examination. The exam will comprise objective type questions carrying 100 marks covering subjects such as Library Science, Current Affairs, Mathematical Aptitude, General English, and Assamese Literature. This will be followed by a Practical Test.
  • For positions at SI. 3 & 5: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a Speed Test conducted by the Selection Committee of the ALA Secretariat.
