Eligibility Criteria of Transport Department Recruitment 2024

To be eligible for the Transport Department Assam Recruitment, candidates must meet certain criteria. These may include educational qualifications, age limits, and any other specific requirements set forth by the department.

Education Qualification:

Candidates must have completed their High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) and hold a 3-year Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute under the Government of Assam/Government of India, duly recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Relevant semester/year mark sheets reflecting the subjects and the final pass certificate should be uploaded during the application process.

Age Criteria:

The upper age limit is subject to relaxation as follows:

(i) SC/ST candidates: Relaxation of up to 5 years, making the upper age limit 43 years.

(ii) OBC/MOBC candidates: Relaxation of up to 3 years, making the upper age limit 41 years as per Government Notification No. ABP. 6/2016/9 dated Dispur, 25th April 2018.

(iii) Ex-Servicemen: Maximum age limit of 50 years for Unreserved category, with further relaxations of 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

(iv) Persons with Benchmark Disability (PWBD): Relaxation of 10 years irrespective of category, as per Government Memorandum No. ABP 180/2017/105 dated Dispur, 7th January 2019. The age limit will be calculated based on the Class-X/Class-XII Examination Admit Card/Pass Certificate/Marksheet issued by a recognized Central/State Board/Council.

For PwBD Category Candidates:

Candidates must possess a Benchmark Disability of not less than 40% and produce a necessary certificate issued by the competent authority. However, there are no reserved posts for PwBD candidates; they must compete with other candidates without any reservation.

Minimum and Maximum Age:

Candidates should be at least 21 years old and not more than 38 years old as of 01-01-2024.

For Government Employees of Assam:

Candidates already employed in regular Government service must upload a certificate issued by the competent authority verifying their employment status. Those seeking pay protection or continuation in service must also upload a ‘NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE (NOC)’.

Small Family Norms:

As per Government notification No. ABP.69/2019/17 dated Dispur, 6th November/2019, candidates must submit a declaration regarding “The Small Family Norms” in Form – A during the application process.

Under the Digital India initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, the APSC’s Online Recruitment portal is facilitated by CSC-SPV, a MeitY approved organization.

Each candidate is charged a processing fee of Rs. 40.00/- + 18% tax = Rs.47.20/-. Application fee relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/BPL candidates upon submission of a certificate issued by the competent authority. Applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected, and fees once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

How To Apply For Transport Department Recruitment 2024

Candidates interested in applying for the Transport Department Recruitment can follow a specified application process. This typically involves filling out an online application form, providing necessary documents, and adhering to the guidelines outlined by the department.

  • Applicants must apply online through APSC’s recruitment website. No other means or modes of application will be accepted, and applications submitted through other methods will be summarily rejected.
  • Candidates who have not yet registered on the Online Recruitment Portal of APSC should first visit the APSC’s recruitment website at They need to click on the ‘Register Here’ link and complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process by providing basic details.

  • After creating an account, applicants should log in using their credentials.
  • Upon login, applicants need to provide One Time Registration details such as Personal Information, Educational Qualification, Work Experience, Photograph (Minimum size – 50 KB & Maximum size – 200 KB, not older than 3 months), Signature (Minimum size – 50 KB & Maximum size – 200 KB), and other required documents. Once submitted, applicants can download the One Time Registration details. Then, they can proceed to the Applicant Section => Apply Section link for submitting the application form.
  • Candidates are advised to carefully read the eligibility criteria and other relevant details before applying for the advertisement. Mandatory fields in the online form are marked with an asterisk (*) sign.
  • Candidates must provide document details such as Certificate No., Issue date, Issuing authority, and upload the documents/certificates (whenever asked for) supporting the claims made in the Application Form, such as Date of Birth, Experience, Qualification(s), etc., in PDF format. The file size should not exceed 2 MB and must be legible when printed. Documents/certificates should be scanned in 200 dpi grayscale. The pass certificate/mark sheet of the degree must clearly state the candidate’s name and the degree awarded or specified subjects as per the Advertisement.
  • Document details submitted in the online application form will be verified during the Personal Viva-Voce Interview.
  • Applicants should ensure all information in the application form is filled in correctly before final submission. They must click on the declarations checkbox to enable the ‘Preview’ button before final submission.
  • Editing after final submission will not be allowed. Applicants must ensure all relevant fields are filled in correctly before final submission.
  • Documents such as educational Qualification, age proof, caste, etc., required to be uploaded should be checked in the preview option before final submission to ensure they are legible.
  • After previewing the details, the applicant can either click ‘Submit’ for final submission or click the ‘Cancel’ button for necessary corrections before final submission of the Application Form.
  • Upon completion of form submission, applicants must pay the application fee along with the processing fee, as applicable.
  • The application fee once paid will not be refunded.
  • In case of payment failure, applicants should click on the ‘Validate Payment’ button to verify the payment from the bank. In instances of double debit, i.e., amount debited twice for the same transaction, the bank will automatically refund the fee to the applicant within 5-7 working days.
  • Upon successful completion of the application, an auto-generated email message will be sent to the applicant’s registered email-id.
  • Applications will not be considered if the fee is not paid for that application.
  • Applicants may also fill out their online form through Common Service Centers. Those without debit card/Internet banking may visit the nearest CSCs.
  • Applicants are advised to submit only a single Online Recruitment Application for each post. If multiple applications are submitted for one post, the applicant must ensure that the application with the higher “Application Number” is complete in all respects, including the fee payment. The fee paid against one “Application Number” shall not be adjusted against any other “Application Number”.
  • After submitting the Online Application, candidates must take a printout of the finally submitted Online Recruitment Application and retain the hardcopy of the Online Application Form.
  • Candidates are advised to submit the Online Recruitment Application well in advance without waiting for the closing date.
